This is the work. Moving. Feeling. Listening. Coming back into the body.
There is a pattern I see again and again — in the women I work with, in my own body, and in the deeper understanding that comes from years of working at the intersection of the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual.
It goes like this:
Stuck energy → blocked emotions → looping mind → physical manifestation.
It sounds simple. And in many ways it is. But understanding it intellectually is very different from feeling it land in your body as truth — which is exactly what happened for me during my yoga practice this morning.
When Energy Stops Moving
Everything in the body is energy in motion. Your breath. Your blood. Your hormones. Your emotions. Your thoughts. All of it designed to flow — to move in, move through and move out.
When we stop moving — physically, emotionally, energetically — that flow is interrupted. Energy that was meant to move through us instead pools, stagnates and settles.
This is not a spiritual concept divorced from science. Research into trauma and somatic healing — consistently shows that unexpressed emotion and unprocessed experience are stored in the body's tissues, organs and nervous system.
They don't disappear because we push through them. They wait.
Cellular Memory
These stored experiences become what we might call cellular memory — patterns held in the body below the level of conscious awareness, ready to be activated by anything that rhymes with the original experience.
A smell. A tone of voice. A particular quality of light. A familiar feeling of disappointment or fear. The body recognises the pattern and responds — not because it is broken, but because it is doing exactly what it was designed to do. It is protecting you based on the most recent information it has.
The problem is when that information is old. When the body is still responding to experiences that belong to the past, not the present. When the cellular memory is running the show without our awareness or consent.
The Mind Joins In
And then the mind gets involved.
A looping, ruminating mind is not a character flaw or a sign of weakness. It is a nervous system response. When the body is holding unprocessed emotion or stuck energy, the mind begins searching — looking for scenarios, explanations and evidence that confirms what the body is already feeling. You experience it again and again.
This deepens the pattern. The mind and body reinforce each other. The loop tightens.
The Body Speaks
If the energy continues to go unheard and unfelt, the body has no choice but to escalate its communication. It manifests physical symptoms — its most direct language.
Chronic fatigue. Tension headaches. A persistently braced nervous system. Digestive disruption. Reproductive challenges. Autoimmune responses. Stress that never fully releases no matter how much rest you get.
This is not your body failing you. This is your body doing everything in its power to get your attention.
The blocked energy is trying to find a way out. The symptoms are not the problem — they are the messenger. And if the messenger continues to be silenced rather than heard, the whole ecosystem — physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual — falls into disharmony.
The Answer Is Not More Optimisation
Here is where I think so many women get stuck on their healing journey.
We try to balance on top of dysregulation. We add supplements, tracking apps, sleep protocols and mindset practices on top of a nervous system that is still braced, a body that is still holding, an emotional body that has never been given permission to feel.
It is like applying a bandage without cleaning the wound. The surface might look better for a while. But underneath, the pattern continues.
Move the Energy First
The sequence matters:
Move the energy. Feel the feelings. Then restore balance. It will land deeper.
Not the other way around.
When we move the energy first — when we give the body permission to discharge what it has been holding — we create genuine space for healing. The nervous system softens. The mind quiets. The body stops needing to communicate through symptoms because it has finally been heard.
This is why practices like yin yoga, kundalini activation, somatic shaking, breathwork and intuitive movement are not luxuries or wellness trends. They are some of the most intelligent and ancient healing tools available to us.
Yin yoga — with its long holds and focus on the energy body — works directly on the meridian system, moving stuck energy through the channels and creating space for emotional release.
Kundalini activation — moves life force energy through the nervous system, and chakras, allowing what has been held to finally rise, move and release.
Somatic shaking — mirrors the natural discharge mechanism animals use after threat, releasing stored activation from the tissues.
Breathwork — activates the parasympathetic nervous system and creates a direct pathway for emotional energy to move.
These are not things to add to an already overwhelmed schedule. They are the foundation. The first step. The thing that makes everything else actually work.
The Living Map
This understanding is woven through everything I teach and everything I wrote about in Fertility Isn't Linear. The five bodies — Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Ether — are not separate systems. They are one interconnected ecosystem.
Stuck energy in the energetic body affects the emotional body. A blocked emotional body pulls the mental body into loops. A looping mind creates chronic stress in the physical body. And all of it affects the spiritual body — our capacity for trust, surrender and connection to something larger than our fear.
True healing addresses all five layers. And it begins with movement. With feeling. With the willingness to let what has been held finally flow.
Move the energy first. Then restore balance. That is where lasting change begins.
